Tourist Attractions
Att ractions that are worth the trip and show there is more to Ceará than just paradisiac beaches. The juries indicated 10 places for this edition of Guia Conhecendo o Ceará. Among them, the ancient Theatro José de Alencar; the handicraft s at Mercado Central; the exhibitions at Centro Cultural Unifor; the paleontological sites at Araripe Geopark; the urban Parque do Cocó; the stalactites and stalagmites at Gruta de Ubajara; fun at Beach Park or Ipark; and walks along Beira Mar, ending in a meal of fi sh and seafood delicacies, while you enjoy the splendid view of the raft s of Praia do Mucuripe.

Avenida Beira-mar
The avenue concentrates most of the hotels, as well as a robust tourism structure: beach huts, handicraft market, the Japanese Garden, and several restaurants.

Beach Park
The water park has attractions for the whole family, with more “calming” attractions for small children, as well as an artificial river with a stream (to be ridden with a tube), a wave pool, and other, more radical choices, such as Insano, a 41-m tall waterslide.

Centro Cultural Unifor
Promotes free exhibits, and the renewal and democratization of artistic, historical and cultural entities. The place hosts the essence of the culture of both Ceará and Brazil, valuing all its richness and diversity.

Geopark Araripe
It is located in the south of the state, over 500 Km from Fortaleza. Visitors can go to nine geological and paleontological sites. The place is part of the Global Geoparks Network accredited by UNESCO.

Ipark
Located 30 Km from downtown Fortaleza, the complex has around 30 attractions in its structure. The Sugar Cane Spirit Museum, mini-farm, zip-line, aerial adventure park, playground, and water sports are some of the attractions the park offers children and adults.

Mercado Central
A place to find the genuine handicraft of Ceará. In total, there are four floors, where around 550 shops sell the most diverse items and typical products.

Mercado dos Peixes
Besides the wonderful view, the place hosts over 40 shops selling fresh fish and seafood, and 4 shops where you can fry and prepare the delicacies to be savored at the sea shore. Open hours: from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Parque do Cocó
The park has sports equipment, a wide sidewalk, nature trails, an amphitheater for outdoor concerts, and an area for picnics. The Viva o Parque project livens up the area on Sundays.

Parque Nacional de Ubajara
Located in the Ibiapaba mountain range, over 300 Km from Fortaleza. Nature trails, guided tours, waterfalls and the Ubajara Grotto are the main attractions.

Theatro José de Alencar
The theater is 108 years old, and its charm is the art nouveau-style metal structure. José de Alencar theater has a diversified cultural schedule.
